For over a decade now, Southeast Michigan audiences have been entertained by the Black River Bluegrass Boys. The band was formed by Barry Brinker (banjo), Tim Brown (mandolin), Gary Koester (guitar) and Garry Trigger (bass), who began "jamming" in the mid 1990's. Playing festivals, fairs, and concert dates throughout the area, they quicklyestablished themselves as a major force on the Michigan bluegrass scene. In 2006, they were joined by Fiddler, "Dancin' Dan Patten", further enhancing the group's mostly traditional sounds.

In addition to being outstanding musicians, the band's stage presence, featuring Brinker's banjo artistry and Brown's corny jokes, assures audiences of a rollicking, entertaining, good time. The original members of the group share the vocal responsibilities, having told Ron to "stay in the back, play the fiddle and let it do the talking." Ron does add another aspect of comedic moments with his on-stage humor.
