A Nashville tribute to the Moody Blues by 31 of Nashville's most
accomplished and successful musicians including talents such as:

FEATURING GUEST APPEARANCES BY ALISON KRAUSS, TIM O'BRIEN, ALISON BROWN, SAM BUSH, STUART DUNCAN, JOHN COWAN, AND MANY OTHERS
Cambridge, MA - On September 28, Rounder Records puts a bluegrass spin on songs by The Moody Blues with the release of Moody Bluegrass: A Nashville Tribute to the Moody Blues. Here are some of the best-loved songs of the classic rock era transformed into fully realized bluegrass. The music transcends what might have started only as a clever concept - it's a fresh sound that's sure to be embraced by bluegrass and Moody Blues fans alike. Above all, it's great fun.

Recorded and produced in Nashville, the collection features guest appearances by many acclaimed musicians including Alison Krauss, Tim O'Brien, Larry Cordle, Aubrey Haynie, Alison Brown, Sam Bush and Stuart Duncan on a range of Moody Blues tunes such as "Lovely To See You" and "Your Wildest Dreams."

Said producer/mandolinist David Harvey, "What stands out to me is the performances of the singers on this album. They're not just good singers coming in and doing versions of songs. What you hear are singers making songs their own."

Best wishes for the happiest of holiday seasons from your friends at AcuTab!

During this time of year, when we all look for more time to spend with those we cherish, we are reminded of how much we appreciate the support of all the folks who have done business with AcuTab or Huber Banjos in recent years. In many cases, you have become friends as well, and we want to take just this brief moment to offer our gratitude.

We have set up a special page on the AcuTab web site where you can see some great holiday gift ideas - for yourself, or any bluegrass picker or lover on your list. You can also search the rest of our site for details about our many other books, videos, DVDs, CDs and accessories - any of which would make a fine gift.

See our gift ideas page at: http://www.acutab.com/sidebar/holiday/index.html

We do have a few new items that may be of immediate interest:

Ron Stewart Banjo DVD - this newest banjo instructional release has been long awaited and is now shipping. We have plenty in stock and can get them out right away, in time for holiday gifts. Ron covers many of his most requested tunes, and dedicates a lot of time to how he carefully finds the melody of each song and clearly makes it the focus of his solos. The DVD is two hours in length and includes a tab booklet for $35 (US).

Details on Ron's DVD at: http://www.acutab.com/artists/stewart/stewart_dvd.html

Masters Of The 5 String Banjo - back in print at last! This wonderful book is like a banjo library in a single volume. Originally published in 1988 and in and out of print since that time, this 400 page book has become the essential banjo reference book with tabs, interviews and photos for the giants of the instrument. Includes detailed sections on Scruggs, Reno, Osborne, Stanley, Fleck and many, many more.

Every banjo player should have a copy of this book, a great and valuable resource, even given its $60 (US) price.

2003 Simmons Market Survey

Are you a married man between the ages of 25 and 54? A homeowner who lives in the South and is employed in the wholesale/retail trade industry?

If your answer to these questions is "Yes," Simmons Market Research has determined you are the typical bluegrass fan. According to survey results published in the January/February 2003 issue of *International Bluegrass,* bluegrass consumers are primarily male (59% male and 41% female) and married (61% are happily married, 21% are single and 14% are divorced/separated).

Where 32% of the general population has an annual income over $30,000, 42% of bluegrass consumers fall in that category. But while 3.5% of Americans' income exceeds $100,000, only 2.8% of bluegrassers make that kind of money.

Then again, while 21% of the country at large are college grads, 30% of bluegrass consumers have a college degree.

Bill Monroe Commemorative Stamp

Bill Monroe Commemorative Postage Stamp - Act NOW! Would you like to see Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, honored by a commemorative United States Postage Stamp?  If you would, the time to act is NOW, and all you have to do is to write and mail a letter.

Each year, the United States Postal Service considers the issuance of approximately 25 commemorative postage stamps.  Under its guidelines, the honoree must have been dead for at least 10 years, which in Bill Monroe's case will be September 9, 2006.  The 95th anniversary of his birth, September 13, 2006, which is only 4 days later, would be a logical date for the issuance of the stamp.  The guidelines further recommend that the process be started 3 years before the issuance year, which is 2003.

The first step is for a citizens' committee to select, and narrow down to approximately 25, the worthy nominees for each year.  This they do by considering letters, cards, petitions, etc., sent to them by the public at large.  After that, the committee considers art work and other details for the stamp.  Because Bill Monroe's music is appreciated World-Wide, nominations from outside the USA would be very appropriate.  If you would like to participate in this effort on behalf of a great American musical genius, write your letter to:

Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee
c/o Stamp Development, US Postal Service
475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Room 5670
Washington, DC 20260-2437
