Anchor Bay Bluegrass Festival - August 5, 2004

Welcome to the first ever Anchor Bay Bluegrass Festival, brought to you
by the New Baltimore Lions Club. A charity show, the ticket price went to help the
Penrickton Center for Blind Children and other Lions Club Charities. This show was
so well put together, advertising and information for the show was so well done,
it was such a shame that the numbers were low in attendence.
We really hope that the New Baltimore Lions Club does give it a try for next year and
more people will come to help support Bluegrass Music in the state of Michigan.
They went out and god a great lineup of bluegrass talent, including national acts like David Grier,
Blue Highway and the Mark Newton Band. People. we have to support the music and
that means supporting people that go out on a limb to start up more good shows
in the state! You missed a GREAT SHOW!!!!

Mike Adams and his boys put on a great couple of sets and started the whole show off.

Glenn Adams, Mike's son, is the newest member of the band.
And JR Duty on the bass is always a delight to watch as he bebops around the stage
and enjoys his work! Take a look at that brand new Huber banjo of Dave Russell's...
brand spanking shiney new outta the box the day before!

The Cass Avenue Ramblers put on a great mix and really got the crowd moving.

The Smokehouse All-Stars laying down a groove.

Candlewyck came up from South Carolina and they offered
a really comtemporary sound to some good traditional grass.

The boys of Steppin In It were just awesome. The excitment and vitality
of this band as well as the innovation make for a crowd pleasing time.
Sparky on the bass was an inspiration to all who want to slap a doghouse bass!

Of course, the cream of this great crop had to be Blue Highway!
By the time they graced the stage, it was a great day of bluegrass,
topped off by the unmistakable sound of Blue Highway!

They really showed everyone how it is done... the harmonies on their sacred pieces was grand.

Rob Ickes at a dobre-free moment of the set.... (g) and later on, the CD table was busy through the night!

To finish off the night, the Mike Adams Band sponsered an on stage jam
with any of the acts who cared to join in... It was a night to remember, out under the cool summer night!
