IBMA
World of Bluegrass Convention 2004
October
4-10, 2004 - Louisville, KY
Louisville is beautiful at night...
the bridges look great with all the lights. It's a shame that
the convention is leaving the city because it's a very nice place.
Clean and safe in the downtown area. Great to see a downtown
area that isn't all run down! Next year it's Nashville, and we
can certainly understand the move.
The young pickers at this convention
were simply amazing. It's so good to see kids and young folk
loving the music and bringing up the ranks. ENCOURAGE IT!!!!
Here is my blantant plug for my
favorite banjos! Yeah! it was great to meet Geoff Stelling again
after 20+ years! Got to pick the new Crusader banjo and get some
new strings and a couple stickers.
Big Banjo, Little Picker... But
he was doing a great job!
It was fun to talk with Geoff about
my "girly" banjo... he certainly remembered the hearts
and flowers all over my Bellflower.
This little dolly is getting her
first fiddle! How exciting!
Got to meet Neil Roseberg... his
History of Bluegrass book is a must reading for any fan of the
music!
Bluegrass Music Profiles had bands
picking at their booth here and there and this is the group Pine
Mountain Railroad and they were flat laying it down. Great sounding
bunch of guys! Take a listen soon!
Dave had to play lots and lots
of banjos! Me, too.... played Stellings and Hubers and Sonny
Osborne's Cheif, Tennessee Crafters and of course we had to visit
the LouZee Lyre Banjos... those are great sounding banjos!
Who says you can't make money in
Bluegrass! A very knowledge guy on the street said that this
was Ricky Skaggs' new touring bus! Shoooeeee! That must have
set him back like 5 or 6 grand !
Horsies!!!!!
Picking Kids Jamming.... they were
everywhere and they were smoking... watch out in a few years,
these kids are going to be experts!
These boys from Indiana are called
Troubled Waters and they were really putting down some great
music out in the lobby!
Hey, isn't that Lare Williams and
bandmates from Michigan????
